How to Deal with Insecurities

One of the most rewarding experiences for me is working with clients who are able to overcome their insecurities and achieve the A-List life.


Getting A-List Fit is not just about getting into the best shape of your life. It's about changing. It's about evolving. It's about becoming the best version of yourself, inside and out. 

I connect with my clients pretty deeply on this issue. My own story is based in overcoming my insecurities and anxieties. 

I was totally that guy in the gym that had no idea what he was doing. I was so fearful of what other people thought of me, that my workouts were completely sacrificed. 

I psyched myself out by comparing myself to others when I was working out. 

I wasted so much time by building up this useless anxiety. 

However, I know that there are many other people out there that deal with this same issue.

Understand that you have to put yourself first. You deserve to make your health a priority. There will always be someone bigger, stronger, and faster than you. There's no point in tearing yourself down. Instead, get focused on your own goals. 

Here are a few ways to help you overcome your anxiety, and to use your insecurities to help you succeed.


1. Develop a Mantra

My mantra is "I WILL WIN." This little phrase gets me energized and pumped up to push through those last few reps. More importantly, my mantra snaps my focus back to myself, incase my minds starts wandering into that dangerous zone of comparison. 

Find a phrase that inspires you.


2. Use Your Story to Fuel Your Workouts

Every single one of us carries baggage. We've all got stories that have affected us. Rather than harping on the past, let's use that baggage to push us forward.

Remember why you're doing what you're doing. Remind yourself of your goals. Remind yourself of what you're really after. 


3. Create a Plan

The best thing you can do for yourself is to set up a plan for the gym. When you're prepared, the pressure is off. Once you have a workout plan that is set in place, once you schedule out your workouts, you're off the hook. 

I highly recommend turning to a coach or personal trainer for this. When I work with my clients, all they have to do, is to get to the gym and perform the workout. The rest is done for them. The bottom line is this; the best plan of attack is to have a plan.

Start today. Don't let your anxiety about the gym hold you back. You can be so much more when you stop holding yourself back. Trust me.
