“Life gets in the way.”
I hate that phrase. Life gets in the way. No. I disagree. Life is what happens to you. Life is what you’re living for. So why does something that you’re living for get in your way? It doesn’t.
When it comes to your gym time, life is not an acceptable excuse to miss a workout. But this is not a tough love blog. I’m actually encouraging you to let life happen. Just plan ahead, and understand that there is a natural ebb and flow rhythm to life. You obviously can’t control this. But my point is don’t beat yourself up for things that happen accidently. If you have a family emergency that you have to attend to, don’t feel bad for missing the gym.
Gym Guilt. Ugh. I have to admit I’ve felt this. When I miss a workout, I’ll feel irritated because, for whatever reason, as a competitive and goal-oriented human, I think that losing a day in the gym is like losing a race. That’s when I remind myself, that life is not a race; it’s more like a marathon. You need to pace yourself. Sometimes there is an unexpected hurdle, or pothole on your course. It is totally acceptable to deal with that pothole, as long as you get back on course and continue your marathon.
Okay, analogies aside. The bottom line is this:
Accept Harmony in your life.
Life, contrary to belief is not about stagnant unison. We don’t live in a world where everything is completely equal. That would be boring. Life is about harmony. It’s about balance between family, health, priorities, and the unexpected curve balls that Life throws at you. I encourage you to accept the Harmony in your life.
In fact, I challenge you to change your thinking when it comes to excuses. Don’t make them. Your health should be your priority. If you miss a gym session, instead of getting frustrated, or making a ton of excuses… Take a breath, Understand Harmony is happening. And get back to the gym the next day.
Now go out and watch Harmony happen all around you!
P.S. Don't forget to share this with someone who needs to hear this today.
